Your Automobile Become Your Money Pit

In this tough economy, many of us have to tighten our belts. We no longer have the disposable income we've grown a custom to in previous years. The last thing we need are costly auto repairs, especially since we rely on our vehicles so heavily. Here are a few tips that will help you get the most out of your automobile.

Get the Good Stuff

Most of us dread going to the gas station. With today's prices, a fill up can be very expensive. In addition to the high rates some of us need to fill up twice per week! Here is an interesting tip for you, if you want to fuel up less use the higher quality fuel. The advantage of the higher quality fuel is that it works more efficiently in your engine which will give you better performance and most importantly, better mileage. It may take 2 or 3 fill ups before you notice a difference however you will clearly notice it when you need to fuel up less, which will save you money.

Let It Breathe

One of the most overlooked maintenance items on your vehicle is the air filter. Simply changing your air filter can enhance the performance and mileage. Let me give you an example; would you try to run a marathon with tape over your mouth and a marshmallow in one of your nostrils? Well, driving with a dirty air filter is doing that to your vehicle. The better your car can breathe the better the performance.

Where Is the Dipstick

There use to be a time when gas stations were full service and the attendant would pump your gas, check your oil and wash your windows. Unfortunately, there aren't too many full service stations around today which means we need to check our own oil regularly. Checking the oil in between regular maintenance intervals can save you money. A low oil level can cause the engine to work harder and use more fuel. Topping off the oil when needed will help the engines performance.

Plan Ahead

Sometimes repairs will be needed on your vehicle. Most of us cannot afford the cost of rebuilding an engine and mechanics don't do payment plans. As the owner of Auensure auto service warranty, I cannot tell you the amount of calls we get from people whose vehicle is in the shop and in need of a $2000 engine repair. Unfortunately it's too late for us to help. Getting coverage in place before a major repair can protect you. Call us today to schedule a free consultation and see if your vehicle qualifies.
